Equinox 18:22
2.
Midsummer 19:50

about

The first piece of this album focuses on the Autumnal Equinox (or the pagan holiday of Mabon) and the power of three. Each section is built from the number three, or a number divisible by three.
Part one is a sequence of 12 notes passed around voices at different speeds.
Part two is made up of three sounds. 7
Part three uses a rhythm in 12.
Part four uses a melodic phrase and rhythm that can be heard either in 3/4 time or 12/8 time.

The second piece focuses on another pagan holiday: Litha or Midsummer, which represents a day of inner power and focus and also the yearly battle between the Oak King and the Holly King. On Midsummer, the Holly King, who represents night, wins the battle, and the days steadily get darker until the winter solstice. The piece begins with a celebratory mood for the
holiday and then moves through the battle to darkness.
